Government House,
Hongkong, 4th. May, 1906.
I have the honour to report that
proceedings for the suspension and dismissal of Mr. C.
Nicholas, Wardmaster in the Government Civil Hospital, on
two charges of drunkenness while on duty have been taken
under Paragraph II of Chapter IV of the Rules and Regula-
-tions of His Majesty's Colonial Service, and that at a
Meeting of Executive Council held on the 3rd. instant it
was decided that he should be suspended.
2.
Mr. Nicholas had sent in his
resignation in writing on the day after his last offence
but as I considered that this offence required his dis-
-missal and as he was drawing a salary exceeding £100 &
year, viz.:- £110, I declined to accept his resignation
and determined to proceed against him in the manner pres-
-eribed by the Regulations.
I RIGHT HONOURABLE
THE EARL OF ELGIN, K.G.,
&C...
&C.
